Owns the Tortuga 40L Pro and the Farpoint and says the Tortuga is built way better.
“Osprey is almost half the price but the Tortuga is built way better.”
After ten fully stuffed days in Italy with the Tortuga Pro 40L (and his wife's Cotopaxi Allpa 42L), he found it better built, far more comfortable at max capacity with load lifters and hip belt, with a superior compartment layout, and decided to sell the Cotopaxi and buy another Tortuga.
“In conclusion, the Tortuga is a higher quality bag from my experience. Not only is it more comfortable to carry at max capacity, I believe the compartment layout and design is superior.”
Calls the Tortuga Pro 40L worth every penny: very comfortable at full load, weather and abrasion resistant, fits a lot and fit in the overhead on his trip; his only gripe is no external hook point.
“Very comfortable carry even at full load. Very weather resistant and abrasion resistant. Fits a lot. Correct dimensions, travels well, and I personally like the look.”
Calls the Tortuga a great bag with nothing to criticize apart from its weight and bulk from all the padding.
“The Tortuga is a great bag. Nothing for me to ding except maybe the overall weight/bulk”
Likes the Tortuga 40L pack: the harness and hip belt are very comfortable even fully loaded, though the pockets steal space from each other and there is no place to tuck the straps.
“I really like my Tortuga Travel Pack 40L. I bought it before they introduced the lite/pro thing, so I believe it's the model they now call the "Pro" bag. I”
